You Are Capable
Through practice, love, centeredness, and strength are are possible in any moment. Like a plant drawn toward the sunlight, you will begin to feel the pull of your Dharma — the nature of things, and your own personal path within them. For this journey, yoga is a beautiful vehicle — a set of tools and insights — but not the answers themselves. Those are for you to experience. The beauty of life on this green world, the teachers of the past, and your very own self will light your way.
Reaching out by rooting down is the foundation of Leaf to Root Yoga.
Consider yourself a gardener of your own mind. If you have a black thumb, that’s okay. We will not be working with actual plants. You are going to learn to tend the soil of your mind. Your body. The ground and seat of your soul. In the garden there are many tools that can help us along the way. A shovel. Some stakes. A gardening hose or two. In yoga, it is the same. We have the breath. Our mudras. Some mantras. Most importantly, our own attention and curiosity.
Leaf to Root Yoga begins with a desire to understand Dharma — the nature of things, and your own personal path within them. It recognizes that there is only one person who can undertake this path. You. It honors your self, the earth, and the universe as your primary text on this quest. It also acknowledges that yoga is a beautiful vehicle for transformation, a set of tools and insights, but not the answers themselves. Those are for you to experience. Your practice, like yourself, will become a collection of insights, transcending tradition and time.
